Homicide investigation into the murder of YANG Yan Ping (Madam YANG)

On Wednesday, 11th June 2008, YANG Yan Ping, a female aged 80 years, was attacked by a male, whilst alone in her home address in Saralee Place, The Gardens, Manurewa. Her injuries lead to her death.
Whilst in hospital, following the attack, Mrs YANG was able to give Police a statement. She gave a description of the offender as follows;

• Male Maori or Polynesian 30-40 years
• medium build
• moustache (like recent regrowth)
• wearing short black pants and a white t-shirt.

He attacked the victim from behind and dragged her downstairs to her bedroom. As he tried to push her in her bedroom closet, she struggled and he stomped on her.

Sightings of suspicious vehicle
The Operation Jade team are keen to receive sightings of a green people mover type van around the Saralee/Alfriston and immediate area on the 11th June 2008. It is described as Green with a wide grey stripe around the bottom portion. It is similar to the vehicle shown in this photograph:

Recovered Jewellery
During their enquiries the Operation Jade team have recovered a large quantity of jewellery items and they are keen to return them to their rightfull owners. Please contact the team if you recognise anything belonging to you.

Faces Portraits - update 21/8/08
Two of three previously published Faces portraits have been identified.

The Operation Jade team still wish to identify a Male Maori or Polynesian in his 30's seen walking down the victims driveway on the day of the attack. He is described as having  black hair in a ponytail, thin to medium build, carrying a red object in both hands, and wearing a multi coloured shirt and 3/4 jeans.
